FAQ’s

What does my child need to bring with them to the lesson?

All your child needs is their costume, towel and goggles if they like to wear them. All other equipment such as floats, woggles and swimming toys are provided by ourselves.

How do I pay for lessons?

Payment is taken either by bank transfer or cash, depending on which you prefer.

How do i enrol onto a course?

Enrolment is easy. Simply contact the Academy via one of the methods on our contact us page to enquire about availability. An enrolment form will then need to be completed prior to the start of the lessons.

Are all of your teachers fully qualified?

Yes. All of our teachers are at least ASA level 2 teachers and are fully insured through the ASA. Our teachers also hold either a NPLQ  or NRASTAC Qualification which relates to lifeguard or teaching rescue status to further ensure your children are learning in a safe environment.

What is your cancellation policy?

For our group lessons, a block payment must be made prior to the start of the term. We are unable to offer any refunds for missed lessons during the term. If we are unable to offer lessons at any point due to pool closures during the term then a full refund will be given for any missed weeks.

For 1-1 lessons, cancellation on the day of the lesson will incur a full charge. Cancellation within 48 hours of the lesson will incur a pool hire fee charge. Cancelling with longer than 48 hours before the lesson will incur no charge.

How long will it take for my child to pass a stage?

This is a varied answer as not all children advance at the same rate with some progressing quicker at an early stage, whilst others advance quicker through the later stages. As a rule of thumb the ASA guidelines estimate a child should aim to progress a stage within 2 terms of lessons and not be the same stage for over a year.

At the Swim Academy we aim to progress each term through the stages, however, if your child does not quite meet all of the outcomes to progress to the next stage we will reward them with an alternative certificate and badge to show the progress that they have made during the term. Every child will receive a certificate at the end of each term.

Can my child move up mid term?

Yes. At Ward’s Swim Academy we are constantly assessing your child to the outcomes they need to pass. If they pass all of the outcomes before the end of the term for group lessons then we will provide the option of moving up to the next class. Sometimes the child prefers to finish the term with their current group and that is acceptable if your child feels more comfortable.
